[ubuntu] Live Flash drive with 16.04.1LTS can not find installed 14.04.1LTS

I am trying to upgrde my Netbook from 14.04.1LTS to 16.04.1LTS, using a flash drive with a live ISO installed. I boot from the flash drive and get the install part and the live 16.04.1 but the live version can not find the installed OS 14.04.1. So what is wrong with 16.04.1, or the live...
