So i'm having all-too familiar problems with connecting my Luxa 2 Groovy speakers to bluetooth in Ubuntu Mate 16.04 on an Inspiron 7537.
I've searched around on these forums and others and have noticed that this seems to be an issue for many people. It's a problem that i've wasted ridiculous amounts of time on pre- (and now post-) 15.10, for some reason they got it right with 15.10 and after some messing around i was able to get it to automatically connect and forget about the wild goose chase i sent myself on. But now, true to form for ubuntu, the problem has once again returned and noone can seem to figure it out. Incredible.
Out of the box, nothing worked. I was able to connect with a2dp after much messing around, switching on and off, disconnecting and reconnecting and finally somehow it would work, but when i would want to do something crazy like i dunno, switch off my computer or speakers and reconnect another time, i'd be back to square one and nothing would work.
After searching around i found this is a problem for loads of people and there have been many many helpful suggestions and comments (thank GOD for these people) though no solution has seemed to work for me, here for example.
So can some helpful soul explain the following (bearing in mind i'm no expert):
In 16.04, /etc/bluetooth/audio.conf does not seem to exist, and so many potentially helpful suggestions referring to this file don't seem to apply. Does the information in this file exist elsewhere now?
Is there a file that concerns tinkering with the awful sounding HSP/HFP and A2DP profiles, and how i could have Ubuntu switch only to the latter?
It seems like the obvious thing to connect a set of bluetooth speakers one time, and from that point on have Ubuntu automatically connect with those settings. Is there a reason that automatic bluetooth connection doesn't work out of the box?
