(I meant CD drive problem, but cant see how to edit the thread title)
I converted to Ubuntu last year, and cant understand why I took so long doing it
Now 16.04, ACER X550-LB laptop
since installing Ubuntu (dual boot with win 10, work needs Word unfortunately) the CD drive wont load CD's (spins up then just repeated loud BUZZZ BUZZZ BUZZZ noises as it tries unsuccessfully to load CD).
This is on both Ubuntu & Win 10, so I guess hardware, but it seems to have happened only since installing Ubuntu.
Could be coincidence, but is there any way of checking hardware other than buying a new drive and trying it?
