[ubuntu] Trying to configure the best possible security, need to know if anything is missing

mercredi 27 juillet 2016

Being accustomed to Windows & antivirus suites with firewalls, I am trying to ensure my family's gradual switching to Ubuntu does not jeopardize our online safety because of lack of experience with configuring Ubuntu properly. I found an article called "basic security" in the Ubuntu wiki, but it was last edited almost 4 years ago so I have no idea if it is still relevant. I understand that there is no antivirus for Ubuntu (and why), only for protecting Windows computers if data is shared, but that is a difficult thing to get comfortable with and adjust to. I need to know if following that article is sufficient, or if there is more that can be done to make our computers as protected as possible. This is for computers with Ubuntu only, no Windows at all.

I will ask about browser security in another thread, this one is for configuring Ubuntu itself.

Edit: I just noticed there is a dedicated security forum. Not sure how I missed that. Sorry about that Mods/Admins!

Let's block ads! (Why?)
