[xubuntu] Losing the function of the : key mid session.

Hi everyone,

strange one here. When working on my machine, eventually, at some point in the day, I can't use the : key anymore. It simply stops working. When I press it nothing happens.

I have tried looking for triggers e.g does it only happen when I start using VIM but I can't find any.

Any ideas? Should I provide more info?
