Remove snd-aloop alsa device?

What packages did you install?

Using snd-aloop (LOOPBACK) will let you turn off pulseaudio and just use ALSA. But to make it work... the kernel has be set up to use it. I doubt that UbuntuStudio's kernel has aloop ready to use out of the box. I'm on 14.04 and had to set it myself.

If you want to use pulseaudio with Jackd (to surf and record at the same time) ... you need to install the modules -- module-jack-sink and module-jack-source -- from the Ubuntu repositories (there's no difference between the one in Ubuntu and the one in KX-Studio... and when it comes to the packagemanager, be careful so that you don't break your system).

And last... this is just a tip... consider installing "Cadence" from the KX-Studio repositories. It will allow you to choose which "bridge" you want to use, i.e. -- snd-aloop; pulseaudio; etc...
