[lubuntu] I have forgotten the password

I set up lubuntu LTS on a computer 2 - 3 years back, in the back room to be used by others for web checking their email or what ever, the wife has been doing a bit of her family tree research on it as well rather than her chrome book, and it has got to the point of asking for an update on the 2 web browsers fire and chrome, BUT ! as admin I have no idea what I set the pass as, so, I am unable to update the 2 browsers.

Any suggestions as how to update without having to re-install the entire OS
