[ubuntu] No wifi networks appear in new install.

lundi 1 août 2016

I just built a new computer using the Asus H110T and an Intel 7260 Network card, and no wifi networks appear in the Network Manager. (yes there are wifi networks in range) The ethernet ports do work though. I only have Ubuntu installed on it, and I've fully upgraded everything. Here is some diagnostic code I thought you might like to see based on other posts I've looked at while trying to figure this out. Is there any other information I should provide you?

Code:

[UbuntuGnome] installing nemo file manager at 16.04 gnome

lundi 1 août 2016

As I love quite some of nemo's feature, I tried to install it according to these instuctions:
http://ift.tt/2ajBRQ2

at my ubuntu 16.04 gnome box. Nemo will not launch from "activities", trying it from the terminal, it will throw:

Code:

nemo: error while loading shared libraries: libgnome-desktop-3.so.10: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Doing:

gives:

Code:

/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgnome-desktop-3.so -> libgnome-desktop-3.so.12.0.0
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgnome-desktop-3.so.12 -> libgnome-desktop-3.so.12.0.0
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgnome-desktop-3.so.12.0.0

So I've got so.12 instead of so.10 - is that the error?

Any hints would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Wolf

Installing a virtual printer in CUPS that maintains selectable text in PDF

lundi 1 août 2016

Hello.

We have been using a virtual printer on Windows that conserves the propieties of PDF, including selectable text.

We wanted to switch to Ubuntu with a CUPS server, using CUPS-PDF. For somewhat reason the selectable text on the PDF stop working and I become a plain image in PDF format.

Anyone knows if it's possible to keep the selectable text while using virtual printers?

Perpetual Black screen during installation.

lundi 1 août 2016

I tried to install a Lubuntu on an old atom CPU netbook with a usb drive but can't seem to installl. I booted the netbook and able to select the language and the option run Lubuntu without installing or Install Lubuntu etc. However whenever i try to install the Lubuntu, it is stuck is a perpetual black screen with a "_" blinking. Or tryin to run Lubuntu without installing will cause the netbook to restart itself.

I had tried to boot the usb with my other computer and the usb seems to be working fine.

Any suggestion on how to proceed?

postfix with zoho smtp For Magento 2

lundi 1 août 2016

Hello, I need help setting up my postfix to use zoho smtp so that my magento 2 can send emails with my zoho accounts.

My Server
Ubuntu 16.04
Managed by serverpilot

Serverpilot preinstalls postfix and i think that they have a special config. Anyway below is my main.cf.. What i am trying to do is simply setup a zoho smtp and have magento 2 use postfix to send out emails to my zoho account. As well as using aliases. Any help would be really great been at this for a few days now.

Code:

# See /usr/share/postfix/main.cf.dist for a commented, more complete version

# Debian specific: Specifying a file name will cause the first
# line of that file to be used as the name. The Debian default
# is /etc/mailname.
#myorigin = /etc/mailname

smtpd_banner = $myhostname ESMTP $mail_name (Ubuntu)
biff = no

# appending .domain is the MUA's job.
append_dot_mydomain = no

# Uncomment the next line to generate "delayed mail" warnings
#delay_warning_time = 4h

readme_directory = no

# TLS parameters
smtpd_tls_cert_file=/etc/ssl/certs/ssl-cert-snakeoil.pem
smtpd_tls_key_file=/etc/ssl/private/ssl-cert-snakeoil.key
smtpd_use_tls=yes
smtpd_tls_session_cache_database = btree:${data_directory}/smtpd_scache
smtp_tls_session_cache_database = btree:${data_directory}/smtp_scache

# See /usr/share/doc/postfix/TLS_README.gz in the postfix-doc package for
# information on enabling SSL in the smtp client.

smtpd_relay_restrictions = permit_mynetworks permit_sasl_authenticated defer_unauth_destination
myhostname = NATURE-DEVELOPMENT
alias_maps = hash:/etc/aliases
alias_database = hash:/etc/aliases
mydestination = localhost
relayhost =
mynetworks = 127.0.0.0/8 [::ffff:127.0.0.0]/104 [::1]/128
mailbox_size_limit = 0
recipient_delimiter = +
inet_interfaces = loopback-only
inet_protocols = all

upgrade simply just does not start

dimanche 31 juillet 2016

Hello fellow ubunters
I confess to not being very patient. I just have tried at least five times to upgrade from 14.04 to 16.04 and this ****ing upgrade simply does not start. You get three options on the screen : no, remind me later and yes.
Since it would not start, I have tried rebooting, I have seen the selfsame options pop up, I have answered yes five times and still nothing, nada, nulla, rien.
But, with the laptop, the upgrade went on very smoothly.
Could it be this new upgrade is incompatible with an old HP DD7700?

Thanks in advance to anyone with the answer or the 'how to'.
Chris.
